Walkin’ in a Winter Wonderland

February snow in Austin – who knew?!  And it even stuck around for most of the day.

Oh, let me back up for a minute.  This is my first post in quite a while.  Where have I been?  Around, I guess.  Feeling frayed and worn after the holidays,  I thought I needed a break.  Then a week turned into almost two months.

This morning all schools in the area are on a two hour delay because of  weather induced  driving conditions so I finally have a little extra time.   I sat down at the computer and thought, why not write a post?  That is if I can still remember how.

So greetings if anyone out there is reading.  It’s good to be back.

Now back to what I was saying.  I have been complaining about the weather  for some time now.  With our temperatures frequently sinking to the freezing point, don’t we deserve some pretty/beautiful snow for our troubles?  Our temperatures were actually colder than it was in Vancouver when they had to truck in snow for the Olympics!  Back in December we had an hour of soft flurries.  It was magical.  Could we somehow repeat the process?

Then on Tuesday I got my wish.  It snowed and it stuck around for almost the whole day.  I couldn’t believe the transformation!  Here, let me show you.

Here it is after a few hours of snow.

Here is Junior Snowy.  He’s  about a foot tall and kinda ugly – it was hard to make the craisins and pumpkin seeds stick for his facial features and it was too cold for me to put in any more effort.

Here it is just 24 hours later.  Back to the normal winter drab.

Rain washed most of it away but it was fun while it lasted.  Stay warm out there.  How’s the weather been treating you in your neck of the woods?

Glad you got some pretty snow in your area. I’m near the foothills in Colorado and love the snow. It rarely slows anything down around here though. Great that it gave you time to post!

Hi Emma! It was such a treat for us. We had a flurry in December but it all but melted before it hit the ground.

Thank you, it’s good to be back! Just a little snow is nice. Having to dig out from it is another story. Hopefully we never have to dig out from it 🙂

We were so excited too! Being in central Austin, I think we got a little less than folks farther out, but it was still a treat. Good to hear from you.

Good to hear from you too. It was a treat and I wish we could get a little more, but that’s really unlikely.

Welcome back! I have to say you guys were lucky with the snow! It came down here and got about an hour away and decided that it already snowed once this year for us and that was all we deserved!

Ugh, I know what you mean. When it snowed in Dallas earlier in the year I kept asking “why couldn’t it have come just a little more south?”

It snowed at Dozer’s place in Texas too! What’s the world coming to?

Your foot tall snowman looks much taller! Not unlike the penguins in March of the Penguins, who looked SO tall on the screen. And then we see real penguins at Sea World and they are yay high.

Ahh, the power of the zoom. It can make mountain of a mole hill.
