The ambient lighting in the restaurant is warm and inviting as enticing aromas make sweet promises of the meal to come. The mood is high, yet – unexpectedly – the conversation turns cold. Somehow, there in that pleasant setting, the realization that our lives will probably never be the same takes hold.
I’ve heard that clothes make the man. If you’ve read How Do You Dress an 11 Year Old, then you are familiar with my epic struggle to find a fifth grade graduation dress for my daughter. The 8 am graduation requires an elegant, yet simple dress – not as formal as an evening event would require. And guess what? We found one. What a relief ! Now we can abandon the toga I was fashioning out of old bed linens.
My last two posts focused on Jasmine and Heather. Well, the “Proud Mommy Alert” remains in effect for one more day. Not to be outdone, my fourth grader Arvind is making a name for himself. Also an honor roll student, he won Battle of the Books during the 2007-2008 school year. (more…)
The Broward County School District is the sixth largest in the United States is one of the five highest ranked school districts in Florida. Out of the 250,000 students enrolled in the district, 39 have been recognized this year through the Kids of Character Program. (more…)
