Waiting for the Rain

Today it rained
The land is wet

Tonight it rains
The sun has set

So cool and cleansing
is this rain

Our desert blooms –
 life begins again

Five things I love about the rain

  1.  The loud shhhhhhhhhhhhhhh that fills the air as it falls hard and steady
  2. The fresh, clean feeling it imparts to the earth and sky while reviving the patch of hay we like to call our lawn
  3. The way it helps me sleep at night
  4. The introspective mood it puts me in, and most of all –
  5. Driving through the puddles collecting on the side of the road and making a shimmery W-A-L-L of water (only if no pedestrians are around, of course)

Five things I don’t like so much about rain

  1. Inadvertantly stepping into a puddle – Uh! wet shoes and socks for the rest of the day, not to mention cold feet
  2. When the rain undoes a couple of hours of my hairdresser’s efforts on my behalf  (limp and fuzzy, that’s me!)
  3. When it waits until I am going out to begin
  4. Driving in rain that’s so hard I can’t see the car that’s in front of me
  5. The cancellation of an activity I’ve been looking forward to

What’s your favorite weather event?

PS:  I also love it when the pool gets so full  – that it looks like you can walk across the water.

Ah, rain. In these parts, it’s like life to a dying man. We’re in the middle of a drought here in central Texas, so when we see rain we run out into the streets with our faces turned up. We look like turkeys who are so confused by the rain that they end up drowning because they’re too stupid to close their mouths. 🙂

We have had a terrible drought. It seems to get worse every year. This rain is a welcomed friend.

I love rain, even the deluges that hit Mumbai. I love it all -flooded roads, wading two miles home in an inadquate raincoat, power outages, loud thunderstorms, everything!

I enjoy every bit of it too… well, maybe not the wet feet all day 🙂

I love being in my mountain home , inside with the fireplace on, and it is snowing outside! The best time to enjoy the family and friends you have over!

Well, I found the rain. It has been pouring for 4 days straight where I’m from. Literally pouring. I love it though.

What? you can’t walk on water? I don’t believe you!

*Sigh* I love rain too.. just the Indian Monsoon variety, not the pissy northern european kind!

You mean that cold London drizzle, or the Norwegian version? As for walking on the water, still working on it. Give me some time though.
