The Impossible Dream

clutter“Wise men say, only fools rush in.”   This is exactly why I haven’t attempted the great garage cleanup.  I’m no fool.  I know when something is bigger than me.

Oddly enough, everytime I declare that we are officially settled and that all household projects have been completed, another project pops right up.  Sometimes it’s a project that I hadn’t thought of before, at other times it’s something that I had simply forgotten about, or in the case of the garage, something that I have been conveniently ignoring.

Today, or sometime this weekend, I will run where the brave dare not walk (due to the tripping hazard caused by all the junk on the floor).

I will right the unrightable wrong (by making space for my car in the garage so I can get into the house on a rainy day without getting soaked! )

I will try when my arms are too weary (Honey, can you help me get that heavy bulky stuff into the attic? *batting sparse eyelashes*)…

To reach the unreachable star (total garage domination).

I will march into hell for a heavenly cause (actually that would involve lugging the mammoth vacuum cleaner upstairs and cleaning the second story- that’s not happening today).

Wish me luck, friends, as I enter this final frontier.  Time to subdue that unruly garage!

PS. I’m not the only one to borrow this song.  Check out the following Honda ad. (lyrics below ).  What’s your great weekend adventure?

The Impossible Dream

music by Mitch Leigh and lyrics by Joe Darion

To dream the impossible dream
To fight the unbeatable foe
To bear with unbearable sorrow
To run where the brave dare not go

To right the unrightable wrong
To love pure and chaste from afar
To try when your arms are too weary
To reach the unreachable star

This is my quest
To follow that star
No matter how hopeless
No matter how far

To fight for the right
Without question or pause
To be willing to march into Hell
For a heavenly cause

And I know if I’ll only be true
To this glorious quest
That my heart will lie peaceful and calm
When I’m laid to my rest

And the world will be better for this
That one man, scorned and covered with scars
Still strove with his last ounce of courage
To reach the unreachable star

We’ve been “talking” about cleaning the garage for 2 years. I can’t even be arsed to clean out the freezer!

    Good luck!

Thank you, I will give it my best shot – hopefully that doesn’t mean looking at it, shaking my head then going inside to watch TV. That’s been known to happen.

I’m all for the chocolate. Is it for me or the kids, though? 😉
