Slow and Steady…
I’m sure you’ve heard that slow and steady wins the race. Well, what about extremely slow and mostly irregular?
Well, that’s how the packing has been going – extremely slow and mostly irregular.
I was tickled by this cartoon interpretation of the classic tale of the tortoise and the hare . I came across the cartoon at Goozy Dumps. In the above picture, is the hare disqualified for receiving outside assistance? Does the tortoise go on to a glorious victory? Some situations just don’t go as planned.
As the packing saga continues on into overtime, I’m getting to the point of just dumping everything that’s left into boxes with the intent of figuring out what to do with this remaining stuff on the destination end…
We met with some dear friends who had a farewell party for us. We had a wonderful time and now it’s sinking in: “how can we leave?!” They gave us the most thoughtful parting gift. It’s a framed picture taken at a party we and this same group of friends attended over 10 years ago. It’s a picture of all our children (this entire group of friends and ours) sitting on a sofa. The oldest child was probably about two at the time! That oldest child is probably about 15 now! And of course I took a picture of the kids in a similar pose now. I guess there’s no need to tell you that there’s a big difference. We’ve all grown up together (both parents and kids).
The picture is in a beautiful frame with this inscription:
Friends are a lifetime of shared experiences and memories, laugher, caring, sharing secrets, honesty, listening, fights, talking, advice, dreams… A true friend is a gift to cherish. Friends are forever.
Good friends truly make life better. Thanks Friends!
