Anticipation

It was early evening and I was tired. Waiting until the last minute to get ready, my desire to stay home increased with each passing moment.
In the bright lights of the bathroom, I brushed my teeth to a minty shine, washed the cares of the world away in a steamy shower, and decorated my person. With chic boots in place, the transformation of body and mind was complete. I was eager to go.
As a parade of dance tunes kept my mood afloat in the car, I made my way to the venue. I had no idea what the rest of the night would bring, but I was happy in that moment. It felt good to be alive and I was on my way. Just that anticipation alone – was enough.
